Background… hmmm where to start! I grew up in the small east coast town of Kawerau (yes Kawerau!) where the schooling was so good I got to teach myself photography in the dark room with friends! At 18yrs I left home to spend three years at Waikato Uni – Science Degree Major in Biology – mammalian and environmental sciences – all while studying and playing with photography – gaining Diploma in Photography at the same time…and spending some time in Auckland modeling. I decided to leave and not proceed to do a Masters and to travel the world with my other “job” modeling. So – I moved to Australia and based myself there for 5 years, then moved on to Europe – basing myself in Germany, the UK and the Netherlands for some time – with trips home, to Asia, and South Africa thrown in. After years of living out of a suitcase, I felt like nesting and settled back to Auckland with my partner. Purchased first house, channelled “The Block” – before it was “The Block”…. got married, sold, another reno…. In this time working both in front and behind the camera with some inspiring photographers… soaking up their amazing skills and assisting some incredibly talented shooters. I then started up my own business shooting mostly weddings and family portraits and then branching out to shoot houses for “My Agent” in Auckland – a competitor to Open to View. Sold house, purchased another house with a move to New Plymouth, set up my business here, renovations, popped out my beautiful daughter and here I am 5 years on! Phew! I love New Plymouth, the people I’ve met and the ease of life – happily happy!
