Debbie grew up on a farm in South Taranaki with her five siblings and went to school in Kaponga and Stratford.
Debbie worked as an Office Administrator and for an Insurance Company before heading off to Switzerland in 1991 to spend a year learning about the culture her father grew up in and to meet some Swiss relatives. That one year turned into thirteen amazing years.
While living in Switzerland she worked for Citigroup in Zurich and Geneva. She worked in Risk Management for the Corporate Bank, Credit Services for the Private Bank, Country Desk Officer for Asia Pacific Private Banking, Trust Services Professional for the Trust and Fiduciary Department, Project Manager for the Project One Europe Department and User Acceptance Testing Manager for Project One. After the successful roll out of Project One Debbie decided the time was right to return home to New Zealand.
After settling in New Plymouth in February 2005 Debbie set up an office for a new business and then moved on to work as a Field Officer for Neighbourhood Support where she remained until May 2015.
Debbie has been President of the New Plymouth Rotary Club, President and Area Governor for Ngamotu Breakfast Toastmasters and is currently Chairman of North Taranaki Neighbourhood Support. She has also been involved in voluntary work around local sporting events.
Debbie has one daughter and one Grandson and lives with her partner Gordon Gower.
